The Messianic Age – What Will Happen?

  1. What events will precede the beginning of the Messianic Age?

But you, go on to the end; you shall rest, and arise to your destiny at the end of the days.” (Daniel 12:13)

Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.” (Revelation 20:5)

“And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” (Revelation 21:2)

“And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.” (Revelation 20:9)

“For as the new heaven and the new earth Which I will make Shall endure by My will —declares the LORD—So shall your seed and your name endure.” (Isaiah 66:22)

Answer: Jesus, will return to Earth from Heaven with His people. After He carries out the final judgment, He will re-create the heavens and the earth and fill them with life. After this, the Messianic Age will begin.

  1. Will we be happy in the Messianic Age?

…The former things shall not be remembered, They shall never come to mind… And I will rejoice in Jerusalem And delight in her people. Never again shall be heard there The sounds of weeping and wailing.” (Isaiah 65:17,19)

In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of G-d and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him” (Revelation 22:2,3)

But for you who revere My name a sun of victory shall rise to bring healing. You shall go forth and stamp like stall-fed calves,” (Malachi 3:20)

The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, The leopard lie down with the kid; The calf, the beast of prey, and the fatling together, With a little boy to herd them…In all of My sacred mount Nothing evil or vile shall be done; For the land shall be filled with devotion to the LORD As water covers the sea.” (Isaiah 11:6,9)

Why will you plot against the LORD? He wreaks utter destruction: No adversary opposes Him twice!” (Nahum 1:9)

Answer: Yes. We will enjoy the Earth in its Edenic beauty. All life will be restored to its original form* and nature. All rifts between nations will be healed and the painful memories of our former lives will be completely gone. Most importantly, evil will never rise again to afflict us.

  1. What will we be doing in the Messianic Age?

“They shall build houses and dwell in them, They shall plant vineyards and enjoy their fruit. They shall not build for others to dwell in, Or plant for others to enjoy. For the days of My people shall be As long as the days of a tree, My chosen ones shall outlive The work of their hands.” (Isaiah 65:21-22)

Hallelujah. O servants of the LORD, give praise; praise the name of the LORD. Let the name of the LORD be blessed now and forever.” (Psalms 113:1,2)

“…For My House shall be called A house of prayer for all peoples…And new moon after new moon, And sabbath after sabbath, All flesh shall come to worship Me —said the LORD.” (Isaiah 56:7, 66:23)

Answer: G-d’s people will enjoy homes they themselves will build, worship the Lord with gladness, live with each other in peace. Even the Scriptures do not tell us everything G-d has for us. We will have experiences that no man has heard of, dreamed of, written about, or seen.

I can’t wait for that time. Can you?

*Adam lived for 930 years (Genesis 5:5), but today, we can barely reach 100! Sin decayed our very bodies and their capacities. When we receive our new bodies, they will “grow up as calves of the stall” (Malachi 4:2).
