In the beginning…in the end: A word of encouragement for those stuck in the middle

In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. He spent four days creating the perfect environment for life to be fruitful and multiply, to be sustained and sheltered, and to have all the object lessons needed to point us to the Creator of all things.

Over the next two days, God spent two days making every bird, fish, animal, and creeping thing that swims, flies, walks, and creeps. Every form of life bore the mark of divine wisdom in their design and their ability.

He made the first man and woman in His image and put them in charge of this perfect world. They resembled Him in likeness, character, personality, and understanding. Even in their caring for the world, humans reflect the God who cares for all Creation.

On the seventh day, the Lord rested from His labors. He did this to enjoy the fruit of His labours, to spend time with man, and to set a lifelong example for them. He wanted them to spend this day in rest, worshiping Him, enjoying the beauty of His Creation, and serving their fellow man.

In the end, God will create a new heaven and a new earth more beautiful than the garden of Eden. A perfect environment for life to be fruitful, to be sustained and sheltered, and to teach all men about their Creator and Redeemer.

It will be filled with every bird, fish, animal and creeping thing that swims, flies, walks, and crawls. The diversity of life in this new earth will be greater than what we have ever seen.

It will be inhabited and cared for by men and women made in His image. They will resemble Him in likeness, character, personality, and understanding more fully and every seventh day, they will rest, worship, and enjoy God and His Creation. God Himself will dwell upon the Earth just as He dwells within everyone who obeys Him.

It’s hard to see or even believe that when we’re stuck in the middle. We see everything that the beginning never had and the end won’t have. We see death, sorrow, crying, and pain. We see sickness, war, civil unrest of the worst kind, famine, and disasters in nature. We see evil, plain and simple.

But despite whatever is happening and whatever will happen, remember that God and His plan for man has not changed. What He did in the beginning is what He will do in the end. Trust His promises and be ready to claim them when He comes.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.” – Rev. 21:4,5
